BRCC Gala Dinner – London
CertAsig is one of very few insurance companies domiciled in Romania that operates on other national markets, namely Bulgaria and Turkey. At the same time, our expertise, which informs and feeds our strategy and products, has British “roots”: we take products from the London insurance market and policies, the oldest and most complex in the world, adapting them to our market characteristics. We replicated this experience in Turkey on the marine market and then in Bulgaria. We are always up to date with the latest developments and trends in the industry and we enjoy very strong ties with the London insurance and reinsurance community.
It is therefore not surprising that we are a very proud and active member of the British Chambers of Commerce in all the markets where we are present. We get involved and support many initiatives for British-Romanian cooperation, and the latest of these was our sponsorship of the British-Romanian Chamber of Commerce 2017 Gala Dinner, which took place in London on June 13th.
This year, this exclusive event, which brings together the most influential members of the Romanian- British business community, served also as a welcome to the Emerging Europe Outlook on Romania conference, which took place the following day and was organised by the EBRD.
James Grindley, CEO of CertAsig, and Nigel Williams, Chairman of Royalton Partners which is CertAsig’s main shareholder, co-hosted Gala Dinner along with their guests for the evening, business partners and re/insurance professionals from Romania and the United Kingdom.
The Gala Dinner took place in the majestic venue of Draper’s Hall, located in the heart of the City of London.
The keynote guests included His Excellency Dan Mihalache, Romanian Ambassador to the UK; Alexandru Petrescu, Romania’s Minister for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship; Princess Marina Sturdza, Patron of the BRCC; Dragos Andrei, EBRD Alternate Board member for Romania; Matteo Patrone, EBRD Regional Director for Romania and Bulgaria, as well as many notable members of the business community.
The guest speaker on the evening was Shanker Singham, Director of Economic Policy and Prosperity Studies at the Legatum Institute, considered one of the most influential figures in forging Britain’s post-Brexit trade policy. His comments were very valuable to all those interested in understanding the future of free trade.
“We are proud to sponsor this exclusive event which helps to forge strong business connections between the UK and Romania. Although the political climate is somewhat unclear, in both Romania and UK business will go on and become even stronger. As we always say, where there is risk and uncertainty, there is also opportunity and we at CertAsig strive on turning these opportunities into solid, sustainable business for ourselves and for our clients and partners”, said James Grindley.
